Ideomotor Theory — Ideomotor theory explains how imagining or anticipating an action’s effect helps activate the movement associated with that effect. A victim who imagines receiving a reply or feeling relief may become physically primed to reach for a device. The theory explains part of the movement but does not replace conditioning, attachment, habit, and goal-directed behavior. — Cognitive Psychology
