Moral Dissonance — Moral dissonance describes discomfort when a person’s actions, judgments, or experiences conflict with deeply held beliefs about right and wrong. A survivor struggles with having followed deceptive instructions that unknowingly helped a criminal. Understanding the circumstances allows the survivor to examine responsibility without treating deception or lack of knowledge as deliberate wrongdoing. — Moral Conflict
