Shared Human Experience — Shared human experience describes recognizable needs and responses that connect an individual’s life with the lives of others. Survivors identify this connection when another person describes similar attachment, confusion, or difficulty accepting the crime. Recognition reduces the impression that victimization reveals something uniquely defective about the individual. — Social Understanding
