The Broads — The broads is historical slang for playing cards in the vocabulary of gambling and confidence operators. A broad spieler refers to an operator associated with three-card monte. The expression also carried other historical meanings, so context determines whether it concerns cards, people, or another usage. – Historical Gambling Slang
